Putting lesser emphasis on possible success, strength or opportunity. Minimizing the importance of positive events over and focusing more on negative ones.

Example: Even though they complimented me on my appearance, they’re probably just being polite. I probably looked terrible.

Tip: Make the extra effort to think about the positive aspects of the experience.

Reframe: I appreciate that they took the time and initiative to compliment me.
