Imagine this
You’re born. You cry. You breathe. You look around like, “What in the name of gravity is going on?” Then—boom—before you can walk, you’re on a journey. A long one.
One without turn-by-turn directions, no Yelp reviews, no refunds, and—sorry—no guarantees.
That’s what this is. Life. A full-blown, high-stakes, one-ticket-per-soul road trip.
So let’s talk about that trip, shall we?
You’re on a Journey right now
A different road from everyone else, one of your own choosing. And before you roll your eyes and think this is some Eat, Pray, Love bullshit, hear me out.
Maybe it’s the road you chose without much influence. Maybe it’s the road your parents chose for you. Maybe it’s the road you stumbled onto because you looked around and saw others doing the same thing.
Doesn’t matter how you got here.
What matters is this: Do you like where this road is taking you?
Here’s where it gets interesting
We’re all stumbling toward an uncertain future and unknown.
Uncertainty brings doubt and fear. But here’s the thing about where you start—your initial position matters more than you think.
Where and how you end up is determined in large measure by how you begin. By the conditions under which you start.
Plan well, begin well, and you’ll probably end up somewhere that doesn’t make you want to smash your head against a wall every Monday morning.
But here’s the beautiful part
But knowing who you are? That’ll guide you on your journey and make your direction more clear and focused. Like a compass that actually works instead of spinning around like a confused teenager at prom.
The word journey infers exploration, excitement, the unknown, risk, discovery, and adventure.
New journeys, if not forced upon us by life’s cruel sense of humor, should be actively and aggressively sought.
What greater tragedy than to be assigned a single journey in this life?
To be handed a map with only one route highlighted in yellow marker, told to follow it, and never deviate. Never explore. Never discover that there might be something better just off the beaten path.
“Let your mind start a journey through a strange new world. Leave all thoughts of the world you knew before. Let your soul take you where you long to be. Close your eyes, let your spirit start to soar, and you’ll live as you’ve never lived before.”
– Erich Fromm
Final Note (From the Future You):
You will survive the things you think will break you.
You will outgrow some of your own beliefs.
You will look back one day and thank yourself for walking through the fog anyway.
But here’s the warning label nobody puts on the brochure:
If you have to suppress any part of yourself to “succeed,” it’s not success. It’s sacrifice. And eventually, it’ll cost you everything that matters.
True success isn’t a trophy on a shelf.
It’s not a job title. Not a number in a bank account.
True success is spherical.
It touches every part of your life—your physical realm, your mental realm, your emotional realm, your relational realm, and your spiritual realm.
And the beautiful thing about your life’s journey?
You get to start walking again—any day, any hour, any moment.
You just have to choose the road that lets you bring your whole self along for the ride.
